Are you a Christian?

Yes         No

Evangelism, The Good news, The Gospel,

What ever you call it, we all should do it

  1. What can I do?
  2. How do you Evangelise?
  3. What is Evangelism?
  4. I am too fearful!
  5. What if they laugh at me
  6. What if I forget what to say

We can make so many excuses as to why we don’t tell people about God.

  1. Tell someone, give them a gospel tract.
  2. Talk to me (Paul) I have many really good resources to help.
  3. It is telling people some really good and exciting news.
  4. Is your fear bigger than God?
  5. In the years I have been witnessing I have never had anyone laugh at me, they usually thank me.
  6. That is why I use Gospel tracts because even if I mess it up, they still go home with the gospel in their hands and will then read it in there own time.

1+1 Italian Night

What is the purpose for 1+1?

Scripture says (Matt 28:19) ‘Therefore go and make disciples of all nations’, Jesus was saying this to the eleven disciples not just to one or two of them but to them all, evangelism is not just the work of an individual but all the church. 1+1 is another way that you can bring not yet Christian to church, this is one of the last things Jesus said “I think it is important” God’s desire is that non should perish. I will continue to do street evangelism aswell

What is 1+1? 1+1 is 1 Christian committing themselves to 1 not yet Christian
• To pray one time each day
• To speak one time each week
• To meet one time each month
• To invite them to a 1+1 event (or similar) one time each season
• Ask them one time each year about there salvation

What is a 1+1 event? It will always be a chilled evening where you can invite your not yet Christian friends and family to, the events will vary from food nights like this month which is an Italian Café night, comedians magicians, performance nights, it will range each month, so you can invite you friends to each 1+1 event.

Will there be singing and praying?
NO not in the event but lots of it maybe in another room— having church is not just about
singing and praying, Jesus spent a lot of his time with the people who needed him. The people that we know that are not yet Christians are the people who need Him.

Will you share the
Saviour with someone
this Christmas season?

A Christian book relates the true story a man who’s job was raking litter off the Avon River. It was
dull, boring work and he often wondered what life was all about. One day he raked a soggy piece
of paper off the water and decided it was interesting enough to keep, so he carefully placed it in
his bag and took it home. That evening he dried the paper in front of a heater and gently unfolded
it, then he read it . . . it was a gospel tract. He became a Christian that evening. Did you know that
God used a gospel tract to save the great missionary Hudson Taylor? God also used one to
change the life of George Whitefield. After he read one called “The Life of God in the Soul of a
Man,” he said, “God showed me I must be born again or be damned.” Whitefield went on to pray,
“Lord, if I am not a Christian, or if I am not a real one, for Jesus Christ’s sake show me what
Christianity is, that I may not be damned at last!” Then his journal tells us “from that moment . . .
did I know that I must become a new creature.” Never underestimate the power of a gospel tract.
God has used them not only to save these heroes of the faith, but innumerable others as well.
Billy Graham said, “Nothing surpasses a tract for sowing the seed of the Good News.” The great
thing about tracts is that they can either provide an opening for us to share our faith, or if we are
too timid to speak they can do the witnessing for us. Tracts don’t get into arguments; they just
state their case. And tracts only speak to the individual when they are ready—the person doesn’t
read it until he wants to. Don’t let this Christmas pass without sharing the Saviour. Take some of
tracts from the welcome area and give them out to strangers. You may be surprised at how easy
it is… but if you find yourself paralysed by fear, leave one in a shopping cart. It’s OK to crawl
before you walk. You’re not alone, we all battle fear. But if you find yourself too fearful even to do
that, then go to God in prayer. Meditate on the fate of the ungodly—give hell some deep thought.
Then ask God to give you a compassion for the lost that will swallow your fears. Do something
this Christmas to bring the message of eternal salvation to a dying world.

Christmas isn’t Christmas
without the Saviour.

Halloween

Around the beginning of this month you may experience more knocks at the door than usual,
the reason for this is of course trick or treat. Children of all ages coming to your door for free
sweets and buns, usually dressed up as vampires, witches, ghouls and all things evil. For some
reason we seem to allow the devil and demons to have a free access to children's minds just
because parents says it’s just a bit of harmless fun…..WHY????
How have you dealt with it in previous years?

• Don’t believe in it and shut the door
• I’m a Christian and don’t think it is right and shut the door
• Just given them sweets to shut them up

Have you dared to say trick?

Rather than seeing it as a problem why not use it as an opportunity.
“It's that time again. The greatest night of the year for evangelism--when the world comes
knocking on your door looking for a treat.”
As Christians we are told to expose the fruitless deed of darkness (Eph 5:11) so don’t let this
time of year pass you by, go and get some sweets get some gospel tracts from the welcome
desk and spread the word. Don’t be a grumpy Christian that just complains about children
ruining their lives—”DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT”. The great thing about this is that you
don’t have to even leave the warmth of your home, you can leave your slippers on and still
help a child to know that what they are doing is not good for them.

For the past few years we have had a stall at the Rotherham show and I think it has gone very well. This year due to certain circumstances we are not having a stall there BUT I would still like people to volunteer to go to the show and hand out gospel tracts and maybe even witness to people, if you are able to help at all with this please see me and we will arrange a time to go.

Do you have questions and don’t know the answers and don’t know where to find the answers, questions like;

Is Noah’s ark a myth?

Was the flood global?

Where do dinosaurs fit into the bible?

Where did Cain find his wife?

If you have any questions about the beginning, creation etc go to

An Excellent new Gospel tract that has just been produced from living waters, it is this £1 million note, I have used nearly 200 already in the last month or so, people love it and they ask for more. “Why do people ask for gospel tracts” I hear you say. This £1 million note looks like it is real, people would love to win or have a million pounds, there love for money is so much higher than there love for God and as this has the gospel on the back they can take it away and read it at their leisure. I have always got some in my wallet so that when I give it to someone that are getting something special because it is safe in my wallet

Gospel tracts, why do I use them and why are they important?

Firstly if they are produced to a high standard, non cheesy and not screwed up in your pocket they are an excellent way of giving someone the gospel without having to talk to them, if someone is in a rush or doesn't want to talk they can take the gospel tract home with them and read it at home, the ones that I buy are all from the living waters in either Gateshead or Bellflower, CA and are freely available in the welcome area. They are all fantastic they all have some part of the 10 commandments on them to bring the knowledge of sin and then the grace of God, you see the thing with a gospel tract is that they can’t argue with it because it doesn’t answer back, it says what it is going to say and that’s that.

I use them mainly for starting a conversation with a NOT YET CHRISTIAN. There are quite a few that challenge your eyes and these are brilliant ice breakers, have you noticed how we put a lot of trust into our eyes and really we can’t always trust them, why is it that we see blue sky? It’s not really blue. Is it?

Why not take some gospel tracts home with you from the welcome area read them and then give them to a friend, a neighbor or a college, you just never know how resourceful they may be. Gods word says it will never return to Him void (Isaiah 55:11). By giving people a gospel tract you are giving them the living word of God.

Here are some of my favorite tracts.

Easter is a fantastic opportunity for everyone to talk to someone about the cross about repentance about the forgiveness of sins and about the love that sent Christ to the cross. BUT before you can give people the cure to their disease (Death) Ezekiel 18:4 says “the soul that sins shall die” we have to first convince them that they have an illness.

You see, if you came to me and said, “Paul, this is a cure to Groaninzin’s disease; I sold my house to raise the money to get this cure. I’m giving it to you as a free gift.” I’d probably react something like this: “What? Cure to what? Groaninzin’s disease? You sold your house to raise the money to get this cure? You’re giving it to me as a free gift? Why, thanks a lot. But Inside I’d be saying “that persons a nut case.” That’s probably how I’d react if you sold your house to raise the money to get a cure for a disease I’d never heard of and your giving it to me as free gift, I’d think you’re rather strange.

But instead, if you came to me and said, “Paul, you’ve got Groaninzin’s disease. I can see ten clear symptoms on your flesh. You’re going to be dead in two weeks.” And I became convinced I had the disease (the symptoms were so evident), and said, “Oh! What shall I do?” And then you said, “Don’t worry. This is a cure to Groaninzin’s disease. I sold my house to raise the money to get this cure. I’m giving it to you as a free gift.” Then I’m not going to despise your sacrifice; I’m going to appreciate it and I’m going to appropriate it. Why? Because I’ve seen the disease that I might appreciate the cure.

“So how do you explain the disease to people” I hear you say, well that is where law to the proud and grace to the humble comes in. Take them through the ten commandments so that they can see that they have lied and stolen and used Gods name as a swear word and that God is righteous and just and that someone has to take the punishment for it, if they are then humbled then you can give them the cures that Jesus paid the price for them but they have to turn from their sins and put their trust completely in Him as they would in a parachute.

Spring and Summer are just around the corner, that means more people out and about, waiting for you to come and tell them about the gospel. If you don’t tell them then who will???You can't just wait for them to come to you. Please don’t leave it up to someone else, how can they be saved if they don’t know what they have to be saved from—”the wrath of God”

Do you have any questions about evolution, Darwin, stem cells, dinosaurs etc why not come and have a chat with me, you no longer have to be embarrassed about things there are answers. In the picture to the right Dr Kent Hovind is offering $250000 to anyone that can prove evolution because he is that convinced of God and creation… do you have the same passion about God??

In the summer I am planning to do Sunshine corner this year if you remember we did it a couple of years ago, it will be a fantastic evangelistic outreach, if you can help in any way please come to me and let me know you are interested.

Seek and save the lost the way Jesus did

Atheism and Darwin's theory of evolution are some things that Christians can often shy away from when it comes up in conversation or even worse just agree to disagree, why is that—well I think it is due to lack of knowledge and resources. I recently watched a program called ‘30 days’, An atheist woman left her home and family and went to live with a Christian family for 30 days to see if either could change the others mind for there faith. The atheist went to church and to the

bible study and basically played Devils advocate to every topic or question that arose, the Christians, over the span of the 30 days showed the atheist different types of churches and what churches were doing to help the community, like homeless projects etc, they would pray at every meal time, have study time with the kids, all the kind of things you would hope a Christian family would do. Then it was time for the Christians to go to the Atheist

church (yes they really do meet together to discuss how there isn’t a god) the Atheist’s described how they are being discriminated against because the USA Dollar has ‘IN GOD WE TRUST’ on it etc. The end of the program was a real damp squid for me because they agreed to disagree and the Atheist went home.

“WHAT’S WRONG WITH THAT” I hear you say, well that woman is still facing HELL and has no knowledge why or even what sin is. The TEN COMMANDMENTS were never opened up to bring the knowledge of sin (Romans 3:19). When we talk to people about Jesus they have to know why he was sent not that he loves us, it just doesn’t make sense. It must always be law to the proud and grace to the humble. Lets tell people why they need to be saved. (Hebrews 9:26).

If this stirs you in any way please come and chat with me. Paul

Sunday Night Cafe

The Sunday Night Cafe is part of the outreach program of the church? Regularly a team of people take their turn in preparing meals for the homeless in the Rotherham area. They also offer support in counseling and conversation and have opportunity to spare a few moments talking to the individual clients. It is a rewarding aspect of the hard work that is involved.

Missions

As well as having a fellowship that meets the needs of those who attend, it is also important and vital to look at the wider picture. Consequently, we have a lot of involvement in overseas work. We support numerous persons who are engaged in compassionate ministries. We also raise finance through various activities.

Under the category of missions this also means that we periodically arrange trips away to encourage members of the church to experience mission environments and to expand their confidence in helping and assisting others.
